What CFMF is about

Promoting education and sports participation in our local youth.

Since 2014, the Cubby Faville Memorial Fund has worked to create opportunities for young people throughout Fulton and Montgomery Counties. From books and scholarships to sports, recreation, school programs and experiences that help children connect, CFMF invests in the things that help local kids learn, participate and grow.

The Fund was established in 2014 to honor the memory and legacy of Cubby Faville, and is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every number on this page began as a check written by neighbors.

Three ways we show up

Where the work happens

Youth & Recreation

Getting kids onto a field, a court or a trail — and keeping cost from being the reason they can't.

  • Free Gloversville summer recreation
  • A bullpen at Gloversville Little League
  • A scoreboard at Johnstown Little League
  • Scholarships to youth baseball camp
  • Soccer, lacrosse and field hockey
  • Youth sports team sponsorships
  • Cubby Faville Memorial Home Run Derby

Education & Enrichment

Books in hands, clubs after the bell, and a push toward what comes next.

  • The Johnstown accelerated reader program
  • Annual Gloversville High School scholarship
  • Gloversville Middle School clubs
  • Knox Middle School programs, Johnstown
  • Culinary programs
  • Music programs

  • Make-A-Wish
  • Special Olympics
  • Direct family and community assistance
  • Random Acts of Cubby
  • Support for donor families through Donate Life

The book program

10,000+ kids.
Thousands of stories.

Every year CFMF puts books directly into the hands of elementary students in Gloversville and Johnstown — books they take home and keep. The Fund also stocked the Johnstown accelerated reader program.

For some children it is the first book that belongs to them. It is the single largest and longest-running commitment the Fund makes.

Local children at camp

Free summer baseball camp

Zero cost to attend.

In partnership with the Amsterdam Mohawks, CFMF runs a summer baseball camp for local children at no cost to their families.

No registration fee. No equipment barrier. A kid who wants to play gets to play — coached, on a real field, for a full camp.

Raised for Gloversville Little League

The Home Run Derby

Every dollar goes to Gloversville Little League.

Some of what CFMF does is give. Some of it is generate. For eight years the Cubby Faville Memorial Home Run Derby has raised money that goes straight to Gloversville Little League.

Those dollars are not counted in the Fund's own giving total — they belong to Little League. They are counted here because they are real, and because they exist for one reason.

Across our programs

Other ways we make a difference

Buddy Benches

Sometimes making a friend starts with simply letting someone know you're looking for one. A child who sits on a CFMF Buddy Bench is signalling to the playground that they'd like someone to play with — and other kids know to come over. CFMF has placed Buddy Benches in local elementary schools.

Scholarships

Each year CFMF awards a scholarship to a graduating Gloversville High School senior continuing their education in teaching or the culinary arts.

Free summer recreation

CFMF sponsored Gloversville's free summer recreation program so that local children have somewhere positive to be all summer.

School clubs & enrichment

Gloversville Middle School clubs and student enrichment. At Knox Middle School in Johnstown, CFMF has supported culinary, music and other documented student programs — the electives that make a school day worth showing up for.

Youth sports

A bullpen at Gloversville Little League and a scoreboard at Johnstown. Batting cages, team sponsorships, gloves for kids who didn't have them, and scholarships so a child can go to baseball camp. The unglamorous things a season actually runs on.

Community assistance

Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics, Random Acts of Cubby, holiday help, and support for donor families through Donate Life. Plus direct help for local families who needed it in a particular week of a particular year.

Our impact has grown
